BBM, which used to be exclusive to Blackberry, now runs on Android smartphones (Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean) and iPhone. BBM for Android (Android 4x) was released on September 21, 2013, while that of iOS (iPhone – iOS6 & 7) will be available from September 22, 2013). Close. This move lets you chat on BBM with your friends on other platforms.

As we all know, BBM runs in the background. So you get your messages immediately as Blackberry users do (immediately) whether the app is on the foreground or not. You get to enjoy the same features like the traditional BBM.

Below are the features you’ll get from BBM.

Broadcast Message (BC) – With this feature, you can send a message to all / selected contacts at once. Recipients must be on your contact list first.

Status, Personal Messages and Display Picture (DP) – Like common social media, you get to show your ststus, mood, or availability, say what’s on your mind through Personal message, and also change display pictures easily.

PIN & Privacy – Every Blackberry smartphone has its unique pin. Unlike Whatsapp which uses phone numbers or other apps which use email addresses, BBM uses PIN. BBM conversations are made on a private network.

*The Voice Call Feature available on Blackberry smartphones won’t be available in the early vesrion of BBM for android / iOS, but will be available in future versions*
