How to Change Android IMEI Without ROOT or PC

44

For those who would love to change Android IMEI for one reason or the other and have been having issues or difficulties using the previous methods which require a PC, ROOT, and other requirements, this tutorial covers how to get that done straight from your device.

Requirements

Like I said earlier, this method doesn’t require you to have anything installed. All you need is the new IMEI. But you may also need another free tool to make it easier, but it’s not compulsory. In this post, I’ll be generating a Blackberry IMEI for those that would like to use Glo Blackberry Subscription on Android

BEFORE YOU PROCEED: Please take a minute to backup your original IMEI. If your device is rooted, you can backup your IMEI with MTK Droid Tools or Mobile Uncle Tools. But if you don’t have root, simply write down and keep the Original IMEI somewhere safe. It is not compulsory to have root as you only need that to backup your IMEI.

Procedure

With all the above in place, follow these steps below:
  • Launch the IMEI Generator
  • Click Generate BB IMEI

  • Copy the generated IMEI
  • Launch the IMEI Analyzer and paste the IMEI you generated above in the field provided.
  • Click Analyze to check the status of the IMEI.

Note: You may / may not need to download MTK Engineering Mode if you can enter the Engineering mode manually. That depends on your type of device. If you have installed MTK Engineering Mode, skip Step 1, Start from Step 2.
  • Dial *#*#3646633#*#* to enter Engineering Mode. (Skip this if you downloaded the Engineering Mode shortcut app)
  • Click MTK Settings (this won’t be shown if you entered with the code above)
  • Swipe right, and under the Connectivity tab, choose CDS Information

  • Under CDS, Click Radio Information
  • To change the IMEI for SIM 1, choose Phone 1. And for SIM 2, Choose Phone 2.

  • Now on the last screen, If you’re changing the IMEI of SIM 1, enter AT +EGMR=1,7,”NEW IMEI” For example AT +EGMR=1,7,”123456789012345″
  • Click SEND AT COMMAND
  • Reboot device
  • You should get the toast notification ‘AT Command sent

So, If you’re changing IMEI for SIM2, you’ll select Phone 2 under Radio Information, and then enter the command as AT +EGMR=1,10,”NEW IMEI”

NOTE: There must be a SPACE immediately after AT before +. So the command should be AT +EGMR=…….

  1. Walahi ba, I did this same stuff but I used AT +EGMR=1,7,"NEW IMEI" on my sim 2. Since then my phone has began to misbehave. Also my Internet is no fluctuating. What is the remedy?

  2. You may need to restore your stock IMEI.

I see you wanted to change your SIM 2 IMEI. You should use AT +EGMR=1,10,"IMEI " after choosing 'Phone 2'.

Back to the steps. You choose Phone 1 or Phone 2, then in the command, you use 1,7 for SIM 1 or 1,10 for SIM 2

  3. This method works on all MTK phones. I made this tutorial with the MTK 6752.
The major mistake here could be the space after the AT. Make sure you put space after the AT so it would look like this – AT +EGMR=1,7,"IMEI"

If you're changing the IMEI for sim2, select Phone 2 and use AT +EGMR=1,10,"IMEI"

  4. I find this piece very helpful and thorough.
The snapshots helped too. Your piece happened to be the only that mentioned that there is a space btw the AT and the +, all over the internet. Well, that I know of…
So it will not appear like I am over-exaggerating it.

  5. It means the command to change the IMEI has been sent. Now all you need to do is reboot your device.
If the command is correct, you'll see your new IMEI.
Dial *#06# to check your new IMEI

  6. nice one….. to the guy up there who said it displayed cannot run in user built
put a space between AT and +,it will send.

you that said ur imei was not changed worked closely either may be changed some phones especially lollypop using do carry the sim for one another

  7. Yes, it WORKS. This is even the best, easiest and safest method to change IMEI on Infinix X551 cos I own one too.

Also note that you DO NOT NEED to root your Android 4+ or 5+ MTK device before you can change the IMEI. Unless you're using like MIUI
