It has been observed that some Android Lollipop devices like the Infinix NOTE 2 and few Kitkat devices have issues when you try to change their IMEI. The problem is that when you try to change the IMEI for SIM 1, it changes SIM 2 IMEI.
Before changing your IMEI, it is recommended you have a hard backup. Backing up your IMEI on your SD Card is good but it requires root. If you are good at entering the IMEI tweak command, you need to WRITE down the SIM 1 and SIM 2 IMEI just in case. As a matter of fact, you have to.
We tried changing the SIM 2 IMEI of a new INFINIX NOTE 2 the normal way, but after rebooting the device, we discovered the SIM 2 IMEI was changed innstead of SIM 1. So we had to restore the IMEI first.
How to change Infinix Note 2 IMEI
Please note that this post is specific to some new Android Lollipop devices like the INFINIX NOTE 2. If you own any other Android device, please try the normal and easiest method of changing IMEI on MTK devices . If that doesnt work for you or it chnges the IMEI of the wrong SIM Slot, then this is for you.
Normally (for most phones), we change IMEI by selecting either Phone 1 for SIM 1 or Phone 2 for SIM 2 based on the SIM Slot and enter AT +EGMR=1,7,”IMEI” or AT +EGMR=1,10,”IMEI”. But on Infinix Note 2, things have taken a new twist. We had to do it the other way round.
What I mean is, to change SIM 1 IMEI here, you need to select Phone 2 and enter AT +EGMR=1,10,”IMEI” and to change SIM 2 IMEI, select Phone 1 and then enter AT +EGMR=1,7,”IMEI”
As you can see, it’s the other way round. Some Android Kitkat devices have also been reported to act like the Note 2 in this. For the full pictures of the process, you may view the graphical and full explanation here
. But remember you have to switch the SIMs.
