How To Add A Sitemap Widget For Blogger Blog

A sitemap is like a directory of all the posts you have on your blog/site. It helps search engines map out your blog easily. Sitemaps come in different types. The common types are xml and atom. Xml and atom are the types mostly required when submitting your blog to webmasters tools. But there is also an html sitemap.

Like I have on this blog, a visible and readable sitemap to human. This sitemap lists all my posts according to the labels they are filed under. That is an example of an html sitemap. This kind of sitemap helps your readers know what you’ve written on one page, instead of going through the blog archive. Some readers go straight to the sitemap and choose whichever post they’re interested in and even more. You know all your posts can’t be displayed on the homepage / label. All you need to do to have it just to add a tiny sitemap widget which I’m dropping in this post to your blog.

Advantages of this sitemap widget:

  • It shows you which posts are new.
  • You can specify the maximum number of posts to be displayed.
  • You don’t need to update it. New posts are added automatically.
  • And it doesn’t slow your site down.

After a lot of research on sitemaps, I finally settled with this.
